We don’t see every car that is handed back to us, so your handover review is really important.
The review is a key part of the Proof of Collection document that you have to use if you need to make a claim. This could be:
- Issues with your Assured Vehicle, so you can use our award-winning claims application to bring your car up to trade standard
- Issues or damage that wasn't captured in the Inspection Report for your Inspected Vehicle
The Proof of Collection needs to accurately describe your car’s condition, so we recommend your driver has had enough time to make a complete inspection during the handover review.
Completing your collection handover review
We supply a Proof of Collection document and checklist so you can make sure your car’s condition can be correctly described, but you can use your own collection paperwork, as long as it includes the same information as our version.
Your driver should walk round the car and make sure what is on the Proof of Collection is an accurate reflection of its condition.
- If anything is missing from the report, they need to update any comments or add any issues
- We recommend they log all issues - not everything will be claimable, but it will give you a complete record of the car’s condition
Once your driver is happy that the information is correct and complete, they must sign the Proof of Collection.
The document must also be signed by the collection site, to confirm the condition of the car at handover, and a copy of the document must be left with the collection site.
Remember!
We can only process claims on visual issues that were logged at point of collection, so your driver needs to be confident that everything has been logged before signing.
